Who We Are

It all began with love for God and a heart for the homeless...

Since 2000, My Sister’s Place shelter has been a beacon of hope and healing for women and their children experiencing homelessness, showering all who enter with God’s love.

Founded by Marty Owens, her dream was to open My Sister’s Place as a sanctuary and to provide a nurturing home, transportation assistance, nutritious meals and other basic necessities to the single women and mothers with children. While they are with us, we provide the tools and resources to help them to be in a better position when they leave than when they arrived.

Our Statement of Faith

At My Sister's Place, we believe..

Statement of Faith.

At My Sister’s Place, we believe our lives are best lived in relationship with God, in service to others and in community with others. Understanding what this means and how to do it are based on the following fundamental beliefs.

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is God’s authoritative and inspired word. It is the primary and final authority for our faith and our lives.

God exists and actively pursues relationship with us. He is one yet three distinct persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

All people are created in God’s image and are of inestimable worth to God and therefore, to His followers. Every person has sinned and is therefore alienated from God. No person is beyond God’s love and care. His grace and mercy are available to everyone.

Relationship with God is only available through His son Jesus Christ who was fully God yet fully human, who lived a sinless life and died to pay the penalty for our sins. He rose again in victory over death and sin and will come again to redeem his creation.

The Holy Spirit indwells each believer empowering each one to understand God’s truth, to grow spiritually, and to act in service to others and in obedience to God’s will. The Holy Spirit is active throughout the world to accomplish God’s purposes.

The love of God, as demonstrated through the life, death, and resurrection of His son Jesus Christ, compels us to share His love with others through both words and deeds.
